Nurse Jackie

Walked right past Edie Falco in Madison Square Park, filming her serious Nurse Jackie. Just another walk home from the office :)

A Walk In The Park

Well, not IN the park, but ON Park Ave (@89th)...and you'll be walking right by Katie Couric! There's no mistaking that voice.

It's Not What You Know...

It's who you know! My Aussie illustrator for Life's Unpredictable, James Gulliver Hancock, is married to pop sensation Lenka! Who knew!? Another awesome NYC career opportunity!

Forget Not

The 2 weekends on Fire Island at Ocean Beach during summer 2012. No cars. No crowded streets. No stress. Can't get back there soon enough!

American Apparel...

By Asher Levine - a young & brilliant designer for men & Gaga's alike. Yeah, I met him. And brainstormed with him about a Cyborg. Just another day of NYC living. XOXO

Careful Conrad

(Ode to Revenge...) Feels like I spent most of my summer in Austin for PFHoF, but don't want to forget the 2 weekends in East Hampton, nor the adventures in the FIAT. Eat your heart out JLo.

Little Miss Sunshine

A boozy brunch with the Deltas at Pescatore. Rooftop drinks at the Kimberly Hotel. Window seats at http://www.sessionhousenyc.com/. Complete with a feeding from Outback! Mother's Day walk n' talk on Roosevelt Island via Sky Tram. Beautiful walk along the water and a great way to end the weekend.

City Bakery = City Celebrity

A quick trip to city bakery and I spot Wallace Shawn, best know to me as Mr. Hall from Clueless.

RENT

RENT, an Off-Broadway musical even better the 2nd time around. Felt nostalgic for "Seasons of Love," "Light My Candle," and "I Should Tell You."

Enterprise

The Enterprise flew right by my office! That ranks as one of my most fascinating NYC moments!

Birthday Weekend Extravaganza

My first bday weekend in NYC without the arrival of my Texas besties: Friday lunch @ Pipa with T3 friends - Caro, Kristen, Beth, Adrienne, & Russ. Friday dinner @ Birreria rooftop with Lee & Danielle. Saturday road trip to Atlantic City via The Borgata & Revel with Kristin, Greg, Peter, Alexa & the Reddy's. Sunday picnic @ the original Shake Shack in Madison Square Park with my Delta's - Kristin, Kelly, Jen, Emily, Taylor, Courtney, Karen, Jennie, Melanie, & Greg (the first husband).

A Few Good Meals

Lombardi's - America's first pizzeria, established in 1905 Beauty & Essex - food, drinks, and jewelry make a perfect Easter brunch. Max Brenner's - a place for chocolate by the gallon and gifts galore!

A Few Fun Facts

Dutch traders bought the entire island of Manhattan in 1626 for 60 guilders - the equivalent of $973 in today's cash. Today, the average monthly rent is $3,350. There are as many as 800 languages spoken in NYC and more than half of them - like Mamuju from Indonesia, or Garifuna from Central America - are losing speakers so quickly that the Endangered Language Alliance was formed to track their levels of disuse. On its own, Brooklyn and its 2.5 million residents would form the 4th largest city in the country - after Chicago and Los Angeles. When the wind cuts in the right direction, the city can become overcome with the distinctive smell of maple syrup. In 2009, Mayor Bloomberg disclosed that roasted fenugreek from the Frutarom flavor factory in North Bergen, NJ, gives off the sweet scent. Since its 1930 completion, the owners of the Art Deco Chrysler Building haven't paid property taxes. The iconic skyscraper sits on land owned by Cooper Union, an institution that has been tax-exempt since its unveiling.

The Hunt For Red...Meat!

Continuing the hunt for the best burger in NYC, Korzo Haus is up there in the top 10. The fried bun was my favorite! But Peter Lugers was well worth the trip to Brooklyn. Top 5 for sure!

Traces

A great Thursday night show with co-workers: Traces, a mix of music and masterful acrobatics!

Known for celebrity citings (exit Andy Samberg) and great southern food.

Worth the wait?...Maybe.

Raise The Macallan

My first whiskey tasting event, sponsored by The Macallan - free to register, yet a little rough on the virgin palette. I'm fine with just a few sips of the 10!

Uncle Magic

Uncle Magic, the hip hop magician, randomly shows up at a vendor presentation on the job. Just one of the perks of working in NYC, I guess!

Since 1888...

Katz's Deli has made a home for itself on the Lower East Side, serving (somewhere in the ballpark of) 8,000 pounds of pastrami a week! I admit, that was the most tender piece of meat I'd ever eaten. Yum!

Polymorph

BalaSole Dance Company presents Polymorph at Ailey Citigroup Theater.

A series of 10 soloists representing the underrepresented. Very nice!

A New Journey

A federal appeals court ruled Thursday that New York City public schools can prohibit churches from using the facilities for worship services.

The Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit said the decision does not constitute viewpoint discrimination because it does not seek to exclude religious expression but rather excludes a type of activity – worship services.

The Journey's new Upper West Side home is on 57th and 6th Ave.

Shake'n It Up

Kevin Spacey portrays Shakepeare's Richard III, a psychologically twisted soul who offed anyone (family or foe) blocking his way to being king of England.

I have a new respect for Keven Spacey and a renewed respect for the theater. AMAZING!

Lantern's Keep

A new speakeasy inside the Iroquois Hotel in Midtown, complete with cute bartenders, Mexican Bouquets, and crispy risotto fritters. Yum!

Completed my first NE ski adventure in Smuggler's Notch, VT. 3-4 inches of fresh powder did a body good ... when I ate it off the ski lift!

1 hour train ride to CT
5 hour drive to northwest Vermont (about an hour outside of Montreal)
My fist ski lesson, complete with a magic carpet ride
Night tubing and hot chocolate
And, a new fan of Texas Hold Em!
